Hey, I’m Gabu 👋
I’m a data engineer and a curious person by nature, always trying to make sense of the world. When I’m not working, I’m gaming 🎮, reading 📚 or watching a good trilogy 🎥. Politics and philosophy are important parts of my life, and I believe a good discussion is good for everyone.
Right now I’m a Lead Data Engineer at phData, based in Brazil, with about 19 years in data engineering, analytics and data science. I’ve worked in healthcare, fintech, investment banking and telecom, mostly building modern data stacks and pipelines with Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Python and AWS. And, more and more, with an LLM lending me a hand 🤖.
A few things I like to talk about:
- 🚀 Moved legacy systems to Snowflake + dbt and took consolidation from hours to seconds
- 🏦 Built high-frequency pipelines for investment banks, ingesting financial indices
- 🩺 At Trusted Health, built integrations that help hospitals plan nurse staffing months ahead instead of weeks
- 📉 At Conta Azul, shipped a churn model handling 60k+ simultaneous predictions in under 2 ms at 89%+ accuracy (built together with AWS)
- 🎓 Certifications: SnowPro Advanced: Data Engineer, dbt Fundamentals, Fivetran Technical Accreditation and Apache Airflow 2 Fundamentals
Outside of that, I tinker with side projects on GitHub and, now and then, post on Bluesky about data, life in Brazil or whatever got me excited that week.
